[ In many respects, that's exactly what Charles is asking. There's more to this than whether Jean will say yes or not--he has his hopes-bordering-on-assumptions, of course--and it affects all of his relationships, not just that of a student and her pseudo-parental-stand-in. ]
She's actually neglected to mention it at all, and while I sincerely doubt THAT would be the issue, I'll be sure to ask.
I think you should do what feels right. I want you to be happy and she sounds like she deserves to be happy, too.
